In the middle of the picture a women, teacher's aid, wearing glasses. She is holding two plates with her left hand fixing the children’s food. (Above Photo)

Orange Mound School was open educating black children during the 1950s, when Nadia Strid captured these images.

The children are preparing for their afternoon nap. They are listening to their teacher, who is standing to left side of the photo. Only part of her body is in the photo. At the top of the photo, to the left is the same teacher’s aid that appears in several Orange Mound School photos. The teacher’s aid is stand near the window by a cabinet with toys, not facing the camera. Notice the horse head attached to white sticks.
